Postal district covering Thamesmead (including Thamesmead West), divided between the London Boroughs of Greenwich and Bexley.
It borders postcode areas SE18 (Plumstead) to the Southwest, SE2 (Abbey Wood) to the South and East. Across the River Thames to the West are E16 (North Woolwich) and E6 (Beckton, to which it may in future be linked by the proposed Thames Gateway Bridge), and to the North is IG11 (Creekmouth) and a small stretch of RM9 (Dagenham Dock).
