Nyonya was a Malaysian restaurant in Notting Hill, but it closed some time around the beginning of 2009. At the time of writing, it's not clear whether it will open again, and the chefs have already moved to Sedap at 102 Old Street.
The information below is retained for people who want to know what it used to be like.
On Ewan's visit early on a Saturday evening as Portobello Road market was winding down, it was still possible to find room for our party of five (where all the other restaurants along the market's length were very much full). Seating downstairs is communal, with stools and some stands provided for coats.
It is the affordable and tasty food which impresses, however. The spring roll side dish was crispy, while the vegetarian dumplings were nicely fried without being too greasy. The main courses tended not to be too spicy, but came in good portions, such that our less hungry eaters were able to share food.
