Wetherspoons pub in East Ham, in the Good Beer Guide.
It's a typical Wetherspoons shopfront conversion, with a low ceiling and a interior that stretches back a fair way. The usual patterned carpet is underfoot, and walls are finished with wood panelling. Framed info boards here and there give snippets of local history, complemented with vintage photos of the area.
The layout is broken up with pillars and separated in the centre into two "legs" that run back to a small patio-style beer garden behind. A skylight in the left leg allows in natural light, while the right leg is dimmer and cosier.
Kake visited on a Monday morning in September 2019. There were already three other customers when I arrived around 9:30am, and others turned up while I was there. No music was playing, as is usual for Wetherspoons, but there was a decent buzz of conversation. Service was friendly.
There are twelve handpumps in total, clipped on this visit for six real ales: East London Brewery Quadrant, Truman's Runner, Sharp's Doom Bar, Ruddles Best, Abbot Ale, and Greene King IPA. A pint of lime and soda was 80p.
Child-friendliness: There's a pull-down baby change table in the accessible toilet.
Accessibility: No steps to get in, and there's a RADAR-locked accessible toilet on the level with grab bars, low sink and hand dryer, and alarm curd. A ramp to the bar garden from the left-hand side of the pub as you face the back (two steps from the other side).
