Wetherspoons pub in Tooting.
It's a fairly standard Wetherspoons shop conversion, narrow and deep with a low ceiling and very little natural light. Much of the seating towards the front is at high tables running down the middle of the room past the bar, and there are a few more high chairs further back too. The rest is normal tables and chairs. Towards the back of the room is a little area set apart with privacy screens, with a few shelves of books. An exit at the back of the building allows smokers to pop out for a quick smoke, but a sign warns that drinks may not be taken out there.
Kake visited on a Wednesday early evening in July 2011. There were quite a few people in when I arrived around 5:30pm, and I had to go nearly all the way to the back to find a free table. No music was playing, but there was plenty of conversation going on (some of it a little disturbing, including one about kicking someone's teeth in).
As in most if not all Wetherspoons pubs, food is served all day from a standard menu. The menu here was a more cut-back version than I've seen in other Wetherspoons pubs, with none of the "superfoods" options like the salad I recently ate at J J Moons in Ruislip. There was also a sheet of A4 paper on each table offering daily specials: smoked chicken and bacon pate with salad and toast (£2) and gammon, egg, chips & salad (£4). (I haven't seen this in other 'spoons, so it's quite likely to be an initiative of this specific kitchen.)
Accessibility: No step to get in, and stepfree throughout once you're in. However the lines of tables are quite close together, possibly close enough to impede a wheelchair.
