Zone 2 rail station on the Lea Valley Line from Liverpool Street. It's very near Hackney Central Station on the North London Line, and there is a footbridge between the two for barrier-free interchange.

Hackney Downs is the first split on the Lea Valley Line after leaving Liverpool Street. One branch heads to Clapton where it splits further for either Chingford, or Enfield Lock and thence Cambridge as the West Anglia Main Line. The other goes via Seven Sisters.

The entrance to the station (pictured) is on Dalston Lane.
