Gidea Park Micropub, RM2 5HA

Micropub in Gidea Park.

It's a fairly standard size for a micropub, seating around 25 on high stools, another eight at a communal normal-height table, and three or four more on a low sofa and armchairs. There's a dart board in one corner.

The walls are painted dark grey with white detailing, and hung with old photos of Romford, a map showing the soil types of South East England, limited edition prints, and original oil paintings, the latter two categories being offered for sale. "Bare bulb" style lighting dangles overhead, supported by somewhat arachnoid-looking black cables.

Kake and bob visited on a Friday afternoon in October 2018. There was just one other customer when we arrived around 1:15pm, chatting to the staff member about cider, though another two turned up while we were there. No music was playing.

There were six real ales on: J W Lees Manchester Pale Ale, Gorgeous Glowfly, Fallen Acorn Expedition IPA, One Mile End Bavarian Breakfast Wheat Beer With Blackcurrant, Bexley Redhouse, and Hambleton Coco Pop Milk Stout, all priced at £3.80-3.90/pint.

Like most micropubs it doesn't do full meals, but it does have a pork pie menu listing half a dozen different varieties photo as of Oct 2018.

Accessibility: No steps to get in. Limited normal-height seating. A small step (1-2 inches) to each of the toilets.
