Young's pub in Croydon, on the corner of Tamworth Road and Tamworth Place round the back of the Centrale shopping centre.

There's some rather nice tiling to the front of this small, backstreet pub, and the decor within is traditional. There are a couple of picnic benches out the front, and there's also an enclosed decked beer garden. Around the back of the bar is a dartboard.

Despite the presence of four handpumps on the bar, when Kake visited in August 2011 the only real ale available was Young's Bitter (£1.55/half), and the staff member on duty confirmed that this is always the case.

On a Tuesday early evening, there were a few other customers in, and plenty of conversation going on. There was horse racing commentary on a radio or TV, in alternation with '80s and '90s pop music.

According to the Young's website as of August 2011, filled rolls are available lunchtimes only.

Accessibility: Three or four steps to get in at both entrances, though there are handrails. More steps to the beer garden. No steps to get to the ladies' once you're in, though access is a bit narrow, particularly when the door to the beer garden is open.
