Although it's primarily a takeaway, it does have seven tall stools for eat-in, lined up along a narrow counter that runs along the front window and curves around the side wall. The open kitchen behind the service counter can be glimpsed as you order, perhaps with the chef kneading, rolling, and twisting a beautifully pillowy dough for the breads. Decals of stars and palm trees adorn the front window, and the tiles of one wall are painted with an island beach scene.

Kake visited on a Thursday afternoon in October 2018. There was one other customer in when I arrived a little after 2:30pm, and several others were in and out for takeaways while I was there. Service was welcoming and helpful.

Doubles (£2) photo consisted of a small flatbread wrapped around a savoury chickpea stew with chilli sauce, tamarind sauce, and a few shreds of cucumber. The hot sauce was vibrant (and not overly hot — next time I'll ask for more of it), and the tamarind sauce added a good fruitiness. The chickpeas were perhaps over-endowed with skin, but were cooked nicely soft. The flatbread was beautifully fresh and soft. Overall, it was light and very easy to eat, yet still satisfyingly substantial.

A takeaway portion of macaroni pie (£2) photo had a pleasing but not overwhelming amount of cheesiness, and a light texture, not stodgy at all. I had the optional tamarind sauce with it, which was sweet and fruity and really took the dish to the next level. There was a hint of garlic somewhere in there, which may have come from the pie or the sauce, but in any case was welcome.

Accessibility: A step to get in. All the seating is on high stools. There's no customer toilet.
