Greene King pub on a quiet backstreet in Bromley, in the Good Beer Guide.

Entry is into a carpeted seating area with a tiled fireplace at one side and well-filled bookshelves stretching up to the ceiling at the other photo. Old pictures of the pub hang on the walls. Beyond this is the bar, with a bare-boarded space next to it offering more seating, and up a step at the back is a tiled area with a dart board. There's also a handful of picnic benches out the front on a small patio.

Kake and Ewan visited on a Monday morning in October 2018. Arriving at their opening time of 11am, we were unsurprisingly the first customers of the day, though one other turned up while we were there. Music was playing intermittently, not too loud.

The handpumps were clipped for five ales: Greene King IPA, Greene King Abbot Ale, Harvey's Sussex Best, Salcombe Gold, and Fuller's Red Fox. A half of Salcombe Gold and a pint of lime and soda came to £3.53.

According to the Red Lion website as of October 2018, food is served 11am-7pm Mon-Sat and noon-6pm Sun.

Dog-friendliness: According to a sign seen in October 2018, dogs are not permitted.

Accessibility: A step to get onto the front patio, from which the pub is accessed. Flat from here into the pub, then another step to the back area and another from there to the toilets.
