Good Beer Guide pub in Islington.
It now claims to be a bar and restaurant (i.e. a gastropub), so I suspect food is served all the time now. They have a fairly standard pubby menu plus around seven specials.
Bob visited in May 2007 and tried one of the specials; swordfish stir-fry with egg noodles (£9.50). It was very tasty. It was a swordfish steak griddled to perfection. Possibly a little underdone in places (to my taste) but that's fine for fish. The noodles were stir-fried with peppers, chillies and some very tasty squid rings (these were not tough at all) and a prawn. The apple and mango crumble at £4.75 was decent enough. The ice cream was fantastic, but the crumble was not as crumbly as it could have been.
The beer was quite drinkable. The Pure Gold and the London Pride were both £2.80.
All on one floor with easy access and a disabled toilet.
Interesting views over Regent's Canal.
