A tiny airport nestled between the Royal Albert Dock and King George V Dock, London City targets business travellers with flights to the UK and European destinations. City doesn't do queues - the notional check in time is 30 minutes, but it's usually possible to check in 10 minutes before a flight. By far the nicest London airport, in 2015 it is owned by the same group that owns Gatwick.
The best way to travel to the airport is with the DLR; London City Airport Station is right outside, with trains to Bank taking 22 minutes and departing every 10 minutes. Car parking is expensive - when last checked short stay charges £7 for the first hour, and the main car park charges £32 per day. Some nearby roads south of the airport do not have any form of residents' restrictions, but Nick wouldn't feel safe leaving a car in them after dark.
There is a Post Office conveniently only 5 minutes' brisk walk away from the airport, at the junction of Parker Street and Albert Road. Arguably the fastest route to it is into the DLR station, cross the red line, then turn sharp right down some steps to an underpass under the airport access road.
There is free wireless and numerous power points in the departure lounge. There is an Eat in check-in. There are several food options airside now. There is a WHsmiths airside as well as in the entrance hall. There is a bookshop airside and tax free shopping. Also in the entrance hall there is a coffee bar, a restaurant and a tapas bar.
