Pub/bar in Brockley, near Crofton Park Station. It's part of a small chain of pubs run by Antic.

Spacious front area with polished floorboards, mismatched chairs, couple of upright armchairs. Tables aren't large (but not too small - would be able to fit food and drinks for four people) and are spaced fairly widely. Full-length windows at the front which can be opened up in good weather. There's also a couple of cosier, dimmer areas at the back, plus a couple of table/bench things out the front on the pavement for the smokers.

Kake visited on a Monday lunchtime in February 2008. There were quite a few other customers but I had no trouble finding a table. It seems to be quite child-friendly in the sense that there's space for the kids to run around and nobody seems to mind. They also have a kids' menu, according to their website. There were in fact a couple of children there at the same time as me, taking advantage of the running-around space, but they weren't too noisy.

A 250ml bottle of James White organic pear juice was £2.50. They also have various booze on tap, including Stowford Press cider (£3.10/pint), and other interesting soft drinks in bottles (e.g. Big Tom tomato juice cocktail).

Food is served throughout the week, but Mondays are the chef's day off so there's no food in the evening and lunchtime food is limited to a "sarnies" menu; sandwiches are served noon-3pm and are also available to take away. They're priced between £2.80 (peanut butter and jam, or cheddar and pickle) and £3.80 (smoked salmon, black pepper, and rocket). A "handful" of fries is an extra £1, and everything except the peanut butter sandwich is also available in a baguette for 30p more. The only non-sandwich option is butternut squash soup with bread (£3.70).

I tried the tuna mayo and sweetcorn sandwich (£3.20); it was a bit small but very tasty. The fries were thin and crispy and not too oily, and a generous portion (which went cold before I could finish it) photo.

They have free wireless internet - ask at the bar for the password. It works fine (this entry was created using it, in fact). Live music on Sundays from 8pm, according to a board seen outside in February 2008.
