I Knit London, Waterloo

  • Make Space Studios (Studio 8), Newnham Terrace, SE1 7DR

I Knit London was a knitting shop in South London. It originated as a weekly market stall at Spitalfields Market in early 2006, before opening in a permanent location on Lower Marsh. It moved in early 2018 to Make Space Studios about 5 minutes' walk away, but according to a Ravelry comment from the owner (requires Ravelry account to view), by September of that year they were selling online only.

The information below is retained for historical purposes.

Knitting shop near Lambeth North Station. It was previously located at 106 Lower Marsh photo, but moved in early 2018 to Make Space Studios about 5 minutes' walk away.

It originated as a weekly market stall at Spitalfields Market in early 2006, before opening in a permanent location on Lower Marsh. It stocks a wide range of yarns, including both British brands and imports from the USA, Canada, Europe and Japan. The range includes fibres such as cotton, wool, alpaca, and silk, from both well-known brands and smaller, independent producers. They also sell knitting and craft books and patterns, plus needles and accessories from the likes of Clover, Brittany, Knitpicks, Addi and more.

The Lower Marsh location had an alcohol license, allowing them to sell Weston's Organic Cider, Brothers Pear Cider, bottled beers, and wine, as well as soft drinks, for consumption on the premises, but we haven't confirmed whether this is still the case in the new location.

Sarah visited in March 2011 and adds that the shop now hosts a friendly (and quiet!) Chihuahua called Pandora who sometimes sleeps in a window display. Too adorable!

Accessibility: A long flight of external steps to get in.
