Zone 2 rail station on the Lea Valley Line from Liverpool Street.

Hackney Downs is the first split on the Lea Valley Line after leaving Liverpool Street. One branch heads to Clapton where it splits further for either Chingford, or Enfield Lock and thence Cambridge as the West Anglia Main Line. The other goes via Seven Sisters.

The entrance to the station (pictured) is on Dalston Lane. As of June 2008, there are no ticket barriers for entrance/exit. There is a ticket office near the entrance, but it is necessary to walk past it to the foot of the first set of stairs to see the departures screen. There are four platforms.
