The low-ceilinged room is dominated by its central bar, wood-panelled and with a brass rail running around the bottom. Banquettes line the walls, flanked by tables with sturdy wooden tops and set off from each other by wood-and-glass room dividers. Walls are painted dark grey and hung with large flatscreens and small prints of old maps and engravings.

[[Kake]] visited on a Friday lunchtime in January 2020. Arriving just before their opening time of noon, I was the first customer of the day, though several others were hot on my heels. The flatscreens were showing cricket with the sound on, soon drowned out by the sound of conversation.

The handpumps were clipped for Adnams Ghost Ship, St Austell Tribute, London Pride, and Bombardier. A pint of lime and soda was free!
On [[bob]]'s June 2012 visit, there were four real ales on: London Gold (&pound;3.80/pint), Adnams Bitter (&pound;3.95/pint), Hobgoblin, and Bombardier. They also had Westons Traditional Scrumpy. Free wireless was available via The Cloud.

Food is limited to white-bread toasties based on ham, cheese, or both, with optional condiments including marmite and sriracha. [[Kake]]'s marmite and cheese toastie (&pound;4) <small>[https://www.flickr.com/photos/kake_pugh/49438365922/ photo]</small> was simple but good, made with decent-quality white bread and cheddar along with just the right amount of marmite, and served with a handful of cheese-and-onion crisps and a small thing of sriracha-mayo dip.
