Historical version 1 of Brasserie Vacherin, CR0 1DP (view current version)

Fish and Meat restaurant with a french influence in Croydon.

The third restaurant in Malcom John's expanding empire.

bob, elvum,Martin,Northern Steve and Bethan visited on a Thursday evening in April. While the restaurant was moderately busy they easily found a table for us. This is a very much more relaxed affiar than the other restaurants. The menu is your place mat. Ther menu bascially consists of fish dishes and grilled meats.

bob had the Yellow Fin Tuna tartare(£8.25) to start. This was made of good quality tuna yet lacked taste. there was wasabi on the side but not nearly enough( That may just be bob though). For his main he had the Cassoulet with Octopus and Ham hock(£12). This was really good. The octopus was succulent and tender. The ham hock was pretty good. The side order of sprouting broccoli(£3.50) was fine. The Apple crumble(£5.95) was adequate.

The wines we had were fine. Several of which you can get by the glass or carafe. We were bought 2 large jugs of tap water with out any fuss.

Toilets are down a step. No obvious sign of disabled toilets.
