Given the usual range of dispiriting options in this crowded tourist area, the Royal George does a good job of providing a fine place for meeting up and having a drink. There's plenty of upstairs seating (couches, and both low and high tables with stools) and more downstairs, which on a sunny Friday early evening was almost empty as everyone crowded into the cul-de-sac to drink.
There are extensive drinks options, with one London Pride pump (off on our July 2008 visit) and another for cider. There are also plenty of draught lagers (Leffe £3.90/pint, Budvar £3.30/pint, Staropramen £3.50/pint, et al.), cider and bottled beers. The wine is drinkable, with a large glass of chardonnay coming in at £5.
Food is also served and looked to be good quality, though we didn't sample any. Apart from mains, there's also a selection of smaller dishes which can be combined as a sharing platter.
