Hollywood East, SE20 7BE
- Station Road
Hollywood East was a locals' pub in Penge, next to Penge East Station. According to the Dec 2015/Jan 2016 edition of London Drinker magazine, it has closed and been sold for development.
The information below is retained for historical purposes.
This is a single-room pub with a carpeted floor, a few tables around the edge of the room, stools at the bar, and a reasonable amount of standing room too. There are at least three flatscreens, a fruit machine, and three cases of books. Glass cases high on one wall hold a number of trophies.
Kake visited on a Friday afternoon in October 2011. Although there are three handpumps on the bar, they were all off (one of them appeared to be reverse-clipped for Greene King IPA). A large lime and soda (not quite a pint) was 50p.
There were 8 or 9 other customers in, all male, and all of whom seemed to know each other, but I didn't feel unwelcome. Music was playing courtesy of Heart radio, not too loud.
Accessibility: A step to get in. Didn't check the toilets.
