Pleasant Clerkenwell fusion restaurant, opened in summer 2014.
It's rather hard to spot the restaurant as the building is almost camouflaged into the surrounding offices and the lower windows are opaque. Entrance is via a flight of steps (I didn't see a ramp or lift anywhere), and the main seating area of the restaurant is on the upper floor, where the windows are thankfully transparent. Decoration is tastefully inoffensive and unmemorable, but comfortable.
The brunch menu is apparently very popular at weekends. Kat's party ordered from the dinner menu (from 5pm onwards), which is basically an incoherent mash of pub grills, sharing plates, pasta dishes and small pizzas. However it was all very tasty indeed: yellowfish curry with butternut squash (£16) was delicious, fragrant and filling, and came with a small dish of rice on the side. Spaghetti with artichoke (£12.50) was a bit of a small portion, but was cooked and seasoned well and was very moreish. The swordfish special (£19.50) was also very good, but perhaps could have benefited from us ordering a side of something carbohydrate-y.
Our server was very good: prompt, attentive, happy to explain the specials and top up our tap water from a jug. A glass of Sauvignon Blanc was £6, and a freshly-squeezed orange juice was £3.30.
Kat's verdict: The prices are higher than your average gastropub but I think the quality of the food and the cooking is worth it. I'll definitely return.
