Historical version 6 of Locale Oxford Street (view current version)

Major shopping street running east from Marble Arch to Tottenham Court Road, taking in three Tube stations (Marble Arch Station, Oxford Circus Station and Tottenham Court Road Station) and crossing Regent Street. Oxford Street is only open to buses, taxis and bicycles, but is nevertheless almost constantly busy with traffic.

Due to the high rental costs and its prominence among the nation's shopping streets, Oxford Street tends to be overwhelmed by chain stores, although west of Oxford Circus Station are a number of high-profile department stores (John Lewis, House of Fraser, Debenham's and Selfridge's).
