Historical version 4 of Union Jack, SE1 0LR (view current version)

Single storey pub with real ale near Southwark tube station. It has windows at the front which fold open so the pub spreads onto the tables outside.

secretlondon visited twice in June 2017. Although it has five handpumps, on both my visits only two of them were on. They advertised three Orchard Pig real ciders, including one that was ginger and chilli. I didn't see where these came from as none of the keg taps or pump clips had this name on them, but they were likely bag-in-box in the fridge. My pint of lime and soda cost £2. There was quiet disco music playing.

The internet seems to describe this as either a sports bar or more arty. I think the sports bar incarnation has passed, although sailing was showing during one visit. There are paintings on the walls but I'm not sure if it's still has arts events. It doesn't have a website or anything advertising events on site.

It usually does food, but there wasn't any on our visits.

Accessibility: A step to get in. Toilets are on the ground floor. One is very small — so small that I struggled to get in. The other one is bigger — it doesn't have handrails, but is potentially more accessible depending on what your needs are. One issue is that the ladies' and gents' are only differentiated by a rough painting on the door. I couldn't work out what the symbol on one of them was, but the other had a face with styled hair so I presumed that was the ladies'.
