Sweet and Spicy was an excellent cheap Indian restaurant on [[Locale Brick Lane|Brick Lane]]. [http://spitalfieldslife.com/2013/03/27/so-long-sweet-spicy/ According to Spitalfields Life], it closed in late March 2013. As of September 2013, the premises are either occupied by, or recently vacated by, a restaurant called Sticky Wings [http://www.flickr.com/photos/kake_pugh/9978021735/ photo], [http://www.flickr.com/photos/kake_pugh/9978087086/sizes/l photo of menu].
An excellent cheap Indian restaurant on Brick Lane. Notable for its lack of touts accosting you as you walk past. The food is of good quality, despite being almost invariably microwaved in front of you as you queue at the counter - canteen-style service. But that's why it's so cheap. [[elvum]] paid £6.95 for two courses: a small "kebab roll" (a Seekh kebab wrapped in Puri, with spicy tomato chutney and onions), chicken biryana and another puri for good measure. Portions were generous, and there was no skimping on the meat content. There's no license, so drink the free tap water or buy pinapple juice or Lassi (other drinks may be available).

An excellent cheap Indian restaurant on Brick Lane. Notable for its lack of touts accosting you as you walk past. The food is of good quality, despite being almost invariably microwaved in front of you as you queue at the counter - canteen-style service. But that's why it's so cheap. elvum paid £6.95 for two courses: a small "kebab roll" (a Seekh kebab wrapped in Puri, with spicy tomato chutney and onions), chicken biryana and another puri for good measure. Portions were generous, and there was no skimping on the meat content. There's no license, so drink the free tap water or buy pinapple juice or Lassi (other drinks may be available).

The seating is café-like, with wood-veneer chairs and melamine tables packed in to a small dining area at the back, and a single (clean) unisex toilet.
