This Stoke Newington cafe is now called Monkey Bar. It apparently retains some of the characteristics of its former incarnation, and remains a cafe during the day.

A pleasant little cafe and delicatessen in Stoke Newington, on the High Street near the end of Stoke Newington Church Street.

This is a fairly small space, but very attractively set out, with wooden furniture and small tables. There are additional tables up some stairs in a back room, filled with bookshelves of cookery books (both new and second-hand, which are available for sale).

The cafe has a range of very tasty cakes and slices, as well as savoury food, and a good offering of coffees and teas. Teas are served in pots, and are well worthwhile. Orders are made at the bar area, but are brought to your table.

There is also a small range of delicatessen products available for sale, such as meats, cheeses and dried goods.
