Following its previous reopening in June 2008, they've done a decent enough job making the place look sprightly and fresh, with wooden floors, comfortable sofas as well as plenty of tables. One side of the bar is bright and airy, though the other (where the pool tables used to be) seems a little darker and can echo rather noisily with peoples' conversations. Outside, the beer garden is merely perfunctory, but on the whole the place is welcoming and comfortable inside.

Ewan, Bec, and friends visited on a Sunday afternoon in June 2008. There were two ales on handpump (Bombardier and Adnam's Bitter) as well as Addlestone's cider, Amstel and others on draught. There was a wine list available as well, with 175ml glasses ("small") at £3.25-£5.

Food is served noon-3pm and 6pm-10pm daily. On the Sunday afternoon of our visit, the food menu photo covered the usual roast options, including a leek & mushroom pie with the trimmings for vegetarians (around £8.50).

Service still seemed to be learning the ropes, so we felt it best to make another visit not so soon after its reopening, in order to give it a proper appraisal.

Kake finally made this visit on a Friday evening in October 2008. The ales this time were Adnams Explorer (£1.60/half) and Harveys Sussex Best. Not sure what service issues Ewan experienced last time, but this time I had to stop the barmaid pouring me the wrong beer. She was very friendly though.

The website lists a pub quiz on Tuesdays. There's also an open mic karaoke night on Thursdays.

Accessibility: One step up to get in, but it's on one level once you're in.
