Randomness Guide to London - Differences between Version 9 and Version 1 of La Lanterna, SE1 2BA

Version 9 Version 1

La Lanterna was an Italian restaurant on Mill Street, near Shad Thames, not far from [[Locale Tower Bridge|Tower Bridge]]. It closed "for refurbishment" some time around 2014, and never reopened.
Reasonably-priced and good quality Italian restaurant on Mill St, near Shad Thames (note: to get from Shad Thames to Mill St without going all the way up to the Jamaica Rd, there is a footbridge over the canal by the edge of the river). I've never had a problem getting a table for two, even on a Friday night, but it's usually reasonably busy.

The information below is retained for historical purposes.
The food is good although not spectacular. Decent selection of vegetarian and vegan options (of the pizza/pasta variety - they're happy to produce pizza without cheese). I believe they also have a secondi menu with meat stuff on but have never paid attention to it. Pete thought the minestrone was technically a bit salty (though we both liked it, because we like salty things). Cheese/mushroom ravioli was good, as was the veggie pizza. Good wine selection, and the waiters are friendly.

:</b> According to [http://www.london-se1.co.uk/forum/read/1/184896 a comment on LondonSE1], as of August 2014 it's been "closed for refurbishment" for quite some time.

There seems to be a special offer for booking a table through the website (
March 2008).
