A perfectly good, traditional pub in an area dominated by soulless environments (such as the Slug & Lettuce opposite). Nothing particularly special, perhaps, but fine for a drink.

It's been retouched a bit since the smoking ban, to good effect. It still gets crowded after work on many evenings, and when it does it can be very hard to get past the bar.

There's a separate seating area to the rear of the pub (near the Wells Street end), which has a bit more space.
