Indian restaurant on Northcote Road in Clapham
bob visited on a Saturday night and was lucky to get a table for 4. The restaurant can probaly seat about 35 in quite cramped conditions. There are two large pillars in the restaurant which really get in the way.
The poppadoms were light and tasty. The chutneys to go with them were quite good too.
The menu is more intersting than your average indian menu but does have soem of the old favourites as well. bob has the wild duck breast(£10.25) which was cooked pink in a sauce of quite nicely flavoured spinach. This came with rice and soem quite tasty bhindi bhajia. I also had an aubergine dish which was very good and an pleasant keema naan. I also had baby squid with chilli from the starters which was a touch disappoitning. the squid was slightly overcooked. My companions seemed to enjoy their dishes too. My father's pasanda was quite tasty. The others had a lamb rogan josh and a chicken madras. The portions of rice are quite small. The total bill including tip and 4 large cobras and large bottle of water was £100.
Service was a littel hetic and they made mistakes with our drink orders but the food order was fine. Althogh it did take what seemed a while for the food arrive. This can probaly be forgiven because they were full and several largish groups had arrived at a similar time.
