It was previously a [[Category Wetherspoons|Wetherspoons]] pub, but Wetherspoons [https://www.thecaterer.com/news/jd-wetherspoon-pubs-sale-tim-martin put it up for sale] in September 2022, and [https://www.mylondon.news/whats-on/whats-on-news/wetherspoon-closes-another-pub-targets-28222471 finally departed] in December 2023. However, [https://twitter.com/inPurley/status/1737002866319970512 according to Purley BID] it was reopened in the same month by the Redhouse Pubs Group. <b>Note:</b> We haven't visited since the change of management, so some or all of the details below may be out of date. It's a fairly standard Wetherspoons shopfront conversion, roughly mid-sized for the genre. The ceiling is low, and the open-plan entry space holds a mix of high and low tables. Further back past the bar are four booths. [[Kake]] and [[bob]] visited on a Friday afternoon in January 2016. It was quite lively when we arrived around 2:15pm, though there were still plenty of free tables and even a free booth. By the time we left around 6:15pm it was quite full. No music was playing, as is usual for Wetherspoons pubs. The handpumps were clipped for six real ales (Ringwood Old Thumper, Upham Punter, Elland Nettle Thrasher, Sharp's Doom Bar, Abbot Ale, Ruddles Best) and two real ciders (Westons Wyld Wood and Westons Marcle Hill). A pint of lime and soda was 80p. Food is served all day from a chain-wide menu including breakfasts. In March 2017, sausages and mash with peas <small>[https://www.flickr.com/photos/kake_pugh/33739135232/ photo]</small> was nothing special, but fine for what it was. There's free WiFi via The Cloud (requires free registration). Accessibility: No steps to get in, and there's a RADAR-locked accessible toilet on the ground floor. Other toilets are up a rather creaky flight of stairs with a handrail.
