The Breadroom was a French bakery and cafe in Brixton Market. It has now closed. As of April 2016 the premises are occupied by a cafe called Valhalla <small>[https://www.flickr.com/photos/kake_pugh/26029585194/ photo]</small>.

On a Saturday morning visit in September, [[itsbruce]] and Jen sampled the breakfast menu(<small>[http://www.flickr.com/photos/itsbruce/6177369371/ photo of menu]</small>). Jen had the baked egg with bacon and spinach (<small>[http://www.flickr.com/photos/itsbruce/6177366513/ photo]</small>, served with baked tomato, toasted bread and an americano coffee for &pound;4.50), which she found very filling and heartily enjoyed. [[itsbruce]] had the continental breakfast (<small>[http://www.flickr.com/photos/itsbruce/6177365857/ photo]</small>, &pound;5);the flavours and textures of the yoghurt with granola, honey and fresh strawberries were nicely balanced and not too sweet. The fresh pastry of the croissant was sweeter than [[itsbruce]] is used to but again not overly s. The coffee was perfectly acceptable but offered no competition to nearby establishments in the market. While there are more dramatic and exotic breakfast venues in Brixton market, this was classic fare well done.

In May 2012, [[itsbruce]] visited again with a French friend, who declared the croissants to be of a very high quality and among the best to be found in London. Unfortunately, the service was quite erratic and slow (they were very busy).

The Breadroom is a French bakery and cafe in Brixton's Market Row offering French breads(photo) and patisseries(photo) as well as sandwiches and other cafe food(photo of menu).

On a Saturday morning visit in September, itsbruce and Jen sampled the breakfast menu(photo of menu). Jen had the baked egg with bacon and spinach (photo, served with baked tomato, toasted bread and an americano coffee for £4.50), which she found very filling and heartily enjoyed. itsbruce had the continental breakfast (photo, £5);the flavours and textures of the yoghurt with granola, honey and fresh strawberries were nicely balanced and not too sweet. The fresh pastry of the croissant was sweeter than itsbruce is used to but again not overly s. The coffee was perfectly acceptable but offered no competition to nearby establishments in the market. While there are more dramatic and exotic breakfast venues in Brixton market, this was classic fare well done.

There is seating for six immediately outside the cafe and for another three or four inside; this seems to be a popular breakfast venue (justifiably so, based on itsbruce and Jen's experience) so market visitors should not count on the availability of a place at the tables.
