Inside the decor is firmly early-20th century vintage, even a little bit unstylish, with simple wooden tables (some a bit wonky), tablecloths, and candles hidden in teacups [http://www.flickr.com/photos/55935853@N00/7041908149/ photo]. The impression of a speakeasy is only enhanced by ads for a prohibition-era themed club night where people dress appropriately.

Down some steps at the bottom of Charlotte Street in Fitzrovia is this tiny bar.

Inside the decor is firmly early-20th century vintage, even a little bit unstylish, with simple wooden tables (some a bit wonky), tablecloths, and candles hidden in teacups. The impression of a speakeasy is only enhanced by ads for a prohibition-era themed club night where people dress appropriately.

The space itself is small, with space for about 10 tables around the sides of the room. Although at 5:30pm on a Thursday evening, we were the first people there, it was fairly busy by an hour or so later.

The bar is very small, just a short counter, with only one beer on draught (Asahi). A short cocktail list sticks to basics (all £6.50, with a few champagne cocktails at £7.50, and non-alcoholic cocktails at £5). The gin fizz is simple but effective, and their own 'Re-Bourne' is likewise very successful, using limes, elderflower cordial and Plymouth gin in a highball glass.
