A small café in Brockley, near Crofton Park station. From Google Street View, it had been a barber shop named George's in 2012, but by 2014 it had become Arlo & Moe.
A shabby-chic place, with mismatched furniture (seven tables, about 20 chairs, plus two more tables out on the pavement). There are attractive framed posters on the walls. The old "George's" fascia has been reused in the internal décor. No garden.
Rowley Birkin QC visited on several mornings in February 2019. It was usually busy (especially on Saturday). All the staff were very friendly and welcoming. There is WiFi (password is on wall), but it's not very fast. Not really a place to work on a laptop.
There's a variety of food as listed on the big board on the wall. It says food is locally sourced. Cooked food is prepared in view, behind the counter. There are pastries and cakes. They do "Sexy Toast" — toasted French sourdough with optional toppings (scrambled eggs, creamed mushrooms, beans, etc. — Rowley Birkin QC had it with scrambled eggs and chorizo, £9, mostly okay). Some soups and vegetarian meals. Their £8 French toast (with berries, crème fraiche, maple syrup) seems popular. Various tea and coffee options (Earl Grey £2.50, Americano £2.30).
Accessibility: A step to get in (10 cm?), but no other steps. The toilet is a bit of a squeeze, and there’s a bit of a struggle with the broken flush mechanism.
Child friendliness: There are three high chairs. The place is popular with people with small children.
Payment by card or cash. If paying by card, it prompts you to choose a tip percentage.
