[[Kake]] and [[bob]] visited on a Monday lunchtime in October 2007. We started with the starter platter for two (£10) [http://flickr.com/photos/kake_pugh/1716119239/ photo]. Although the guotie (pan-fried dumplings) included in this were cooked competently enough, with a decent crust on the bottom, they were folded so badly that two of them fell apart on being lifted. |
Starters are around £3-5, and main courses around £5-8. Main course portions are fairly large. They also have a lunch menu ([http://flickr.com/photos/kake_pugh/1716705346/ photo]) which offers half a dozen dishes at £5 each with the option of adding one of five starters/sides for an extra £1. |

[[bob]]'s noodles were pretty good (their website says that they make their own). [[Kake]]'s "three treasures lao mein", ordered from the cheaper lunch menu [http://flickr.com/photos/kake_pugh/1716705346/ photo], was a large portion but fairly flavourless (possibly related to the lack of MSG also advertised on their website). However, the onions, green peppers, and aubergines were individually very well-cooked; the aubergines in particular had a melting texture with some good browning on the surface. |
Their website advertises "no MSG", and also states that they make their own noodles. The noodles are in fact pretty good. Unfortunately the dumplings are not so great, or at least weren't on our visit. Although our guotie (pan-fried dumplings) were cooked competently enough, with a decent crust on the bottom, they were folded so badly that two of ours fell apart on being lifted. "Three treasures lao mein" was fairly flavourless, though the onions, green peppers, and aubergines were individually very well-cooked; the aubergines in particular had a melting texture with some good browning on the surface. |

[[Bob]], [[Dean]], and [[itsbruce]] visited in November 2008 and found it no different to the above experience. |

"Noodle and dumpling bar" just around the corner from Angel Station, part of a small chain.
Starters are around £3-5, and main courses around £5-8. Main course portions are fairly large. They also have a lunch menu (photo) which offers half a dozen dishes at £5 each with the option of adding one of five starters/sides for an extra £1.
Service was fine, and they happily refilled our teapot at no extra charge.
The full menu can be viewed on their website.
