Randomness Guide to London - Differences between Version 5 and Version 1 of Category Open Fire

Version 5 Version 1
== Line 1 == == Line 0 ==
This page categorises places (usually pubs) that have open fires.

Note that an open fire is a fire in a fireplace that burns solid fuel, typically coal and/or wood. It shouldn't be confused with things like "coal effect" or "wood effect" fires that are actually fuelled by gas or electricity.

Sometimes it's not easy at first glance to tell whether a fire is real. The biggest tell-tale sign is the smell: if you can't smell anything, then it's probably not real. Other signs are ashes around the fireplace, tools (tongs, poker, shovel etc.) and a basket or bucket nearby holding wood, coal or other combustibles.
