Exotic meat restaurant in Fitzrovia.
bob and several co-workers visited on a Monday evening in May 2010. When we arrived for our 7pm booking, the restaurant was already quite busy and more people were coming in. It was a warm enough day that they were making use of their small terrace out front and had the windows wide open.
We started with some canapes (£2.50 per person) while we were deciding on what to have. They were fine, although not obviously a chargeable item when they were offered to us.
bob started with the Sarawaki seafood (£9.50) photo, which was a fine seafood curry. Others had the crocodile in vine leaves (£10.50) photo, the ostrich (£10) photo, and finally the caramelised duck (£10.50) photo.
For mains, bob had the wok seared frog's legs (£17)photo, which was very tasty. Others had the zebra (£19.50) photo, the gnu (£19.50) photo, and the kangaroo (£19.00) photo. We also had a selection of sides — potatoes (£3.50), coconut rice (£3.50), and the love bug salad (£7.50) photo, all of which were fine.
bob's verdict: Worth a visit once in your life for the love bug salad, since insects are probably about the only thing you can't find elsewhere in London. It's also an experience.
Accessibility: The toilets are down a narrowish spiral staircase.
