Good Beer Guide pub in Eltham.
It's a small pub, but not quite a micropub; the premises were previously a normal town-centre pub, and it still feels like one, with some nice arched woodwork framing the front windows and a wide street frontage with the door to one side. Mismatched wooden chairs are arranged neatly at rectangular wooden tables, and the walls are half-panelled with attractive deep teal paintwork. In one corner is a small bar with no handpumps; ales are served by gravity from a coolroom behind.
Kake visited on a Friday afternoon in September 2019. There was one other customer just leaving as I arrived, and a couple more turned up while I was there. Music was playing, not too loud.
There were three real ales on: Kent Pale, Harbour Cornish (£1.95/half), and Squawk Pica.
Food is limited to bar snacks such as pork pies and a range of packaged crisps and nuts. In September 2019, Kake had the huntsman's pie (pork, chicken, and sage & onion stuffing; £4.50) photo, which was fine.
Child-friendliness: According to a board outside in September 2019, children are welcome until 6pm. There's a pull-down nappy change in the accessible toilet.
Accessibility: Step-free to get in via a very shallow ramp. No steps to the toilets, including an accessible one with an alarm cord and grab bars.
