Good Beer Guide pub. Serves a fairly dull range of beers (Pride, Young's Bitter, Adnams, Green King IPA and something else) at around £2.80 each. The Young's bitter was drinkable.
The pub was full of people watching the horse racing on a Saturday. In fact someone was running a book. There was a quiet room round the back which was pleasant enough. The same family have seemingly run the pub for 50 .
The Time Out review of this place says that it's “Hidden in a street so small that even its abbreviated name is barely visible in the A to Z”.
