Blue Tree Kitchen was a cafe on the ground floor of the Cargo Works building, near the Oxo Tower on the [[Locale South Bank|South Bank]]. It has now closed at this location, but as of summer 2021 is operating via stalls at Wimbledon Village Farmers Market and Imperial Wharf Market. |
Cafe occupying the ground floor of the Cargo Works building, near the Oxo Tower on the South Bank. Most of the regular lunchtime clientele are office workers getting takeaway boxes, but there are a dozen or so tables dotted around for customers wishing to dine in. |

The information below is retained for historical purposes. |
The menu changes daily, but the counter usually features 4 large salad bowls (from which you can choose a combination), a quiche of the day and two hot specials (one veggie, one carnivorous). There is a small selection of pre-made sandwiches, plus a few platters of cakes/brownies. [[Kat]] has bought takeaway boxes on several occasions; the mixed salads are usually very appealing, obviously made with fresh, flavourful ingredients. A Cajun pulled pork bun (£6.25) had a decent kick to it, and the accompanying garlic sweet potatoes were delicious. The quiches and frittatas tend to be on the salty side however. |

Kat's verdict: a solid if above-average-price lunch option, very popular with my colleagues. The staff are very friendly and happy to point out if anything contains e.g. gluten, dairy, evil cauliflower. I'm not sure I'd want to dine in though, as the minimal concrete decor doesn't feel massively cosy.
Accessibility: the Cargo Works building has two sets of heavy doors, each with a power-assist button. There are 6 large steps from the door up to the counter/seating area, with a platform lift to one side for wheelchair users. The main area is flat throughout and spacious enough to manoeuvre a wheelchair or a pushchair. Toilets not checked.
