Given the options for drinking in [[Locale Soho|Soho]], the Nellie Dean is a perfectly pleasant place without any pretensions, though it still gets crowded on a weekday evening. |

It has a range of fairly standard ales on tap (in April 2008 these were Greene King IPA, Wadworth 6X and Deuchars IPA, at £3.20 each/pint, and Courage Best Bitter, at £3.10/pint). It's also reasonable value money-wise - a round of two pints of Deuchars and two pints of Fosters was £12.20 in August 2007. |
Importantly (and rarely) for this area, it also has a pool table upstairs (£1) where the local rules seemed to be winner-stays-on. |

Its location does mean it gets fairly crowded in the evening but perhaps not as much as some other drinking establishments in this area, and the downstairs is quite cramped. You can't take glasses outside, so need to request plastic cups if drinking on the street. |
Comment added by Bec: Also, pool is free Monday (evenings only?) and there's a jukebox where Jo found lots of tacky 80s and Now compilations. |

According to the Pubs Galore comments linked below, they do food now (as of October 2012). |
Also reasonable money wise - my round of 2 pints of Deuchars and 2 pints of Fosters was £12.20. |
