A cafe and bar by Newington Green.
This round corner building sits at the southern end of Green Lanes, with window seating overlooking the busy traffic junction at Newington Green. The large booths by the window have leather banquettes and seat 4-6 people each in reasonable comfort. There are also other smaller tables dotted around the room.
During the day, this operates as a cafe, serving breakfast and lunch to locals. In the evening, it is more of a bar.
Ewan visited on a Thursday late morning in February 2009, when there were a few other people there, and ordered a vegetarian breakfast, as well as a black coffee (total price for both £5.50). Apart from singularly lacking any eggs, the breakfast was perfectly fine photo, with decent mushrooms and a vegetarian sausage. Coffee was also decent.
