Went here for a late lunch (2:45pm) on a Friday (19 Jan 2007); it was totally empty when I got there, and totally empty when I left, though a few people came in for a pint while I was there. They had London Pride (£2.70) and something by Young's on. I'm not very good at judging the condition of beer, but the Pride didn't taste obviously wrong.
Food is fairly standard pub items — beefburger, veggie burger, steak, bangers and mash, fish and chips — but judging by my meal, it's done well, and with attention to detail. Prices start around £7, going up to £12 for the ribeye steak. I had haddock and chips (£7.75), which came with a decent side salad (tomato, cucumber, frilly lettuce, properly washed for a change, dressed with balsamic vinegar), some rather nice mushy peas, and what looked and tasted like home-made tartare sauce. The chips were nice and big and properly-cooked, the batter on the fish was crisp, and the fish was nice and tender. Veggie options were mushroom risotto and a rather interesting-sounding veggie burger, with gruyere, pumpkin, and aubergine.
Music was at a sensible volume — not so loud it was intrusive, not so quiet you couldn't hear it properly. A bit of a mix; the Cure, Beck, and some stuff I didn't recognise but almost sounded IDM-ish.
Decor: lots of wood; horseshoe-shaped bar in the middle of the front part; little booth-like things separated by low screens at the front, next to large windows looking over the road onto Acton Green Common. There seemed to be a beer garden out the back. Ladies' toilets were clean and not cramped; there was even a little plant (a real one) in a pot.
