A 100% vegan upmarket cafe/restaurant on Oxford Street.
Previously known as VitaOrganic photo, it changed its name to Vitao in mid-2010 and then again to Vantra. It also moved from Wardour Street to Oxford Street in late 2013. The system of serving food may also have changed — the comments below relate to a visit in August 2008, and we haven't visited since the rebranding/move.
It aims to sell organic, gluten free, no sugar food. Some food is live. It sells food by the 'scoop' at lunchtime.
secretlondon had a takeout box in August 2008. Four of the abovementioned scoops half-filled a large box and cost £5 to take out (it would have been more to eat in). A variety of hot food was available and some salads (dressing on the salad cost 20p extra). The selections of hot vegetables were labelled things like (something) chakra, with no additional explanation. They had raw vegan chocolate cake for £4/slice (takeaway).
secretlondon's verdict: The food was nice, but it was pricier than Beatroot and some of the marketing triggered my Bullshit Detector. If you're into raw wholefoods you'd probably love it though.
