An attractive pub up by Putney Heath, where a number of bus routes terminate.

Although run by Young's, who seem to have been struck by a desire in recent years to redecorate their pubs in a bland pseudo-gastro style, this place has been sensitively treated. Inside is cosy and carpeted, rather homely, with tables in rooms on either side of the bar. For summer, there's a huge beer garden out the back, on several levels, with potted plants and plant beds pleasantly breaking it up into areas.

On the bar are the usual Young's beers, along with Deuchars IPA, well kept and not too expensive.

Food is served noon-3pm and 6pm-9pm Monday to Thursday, noon-10pm Friday and Saturday, and noon-9pm on Sunday. There's also a barbecue out back which is fired up during the summer. The food menu covers pub classics, and is somewhat short on vegetarian options, but Ewan goat's cheese and beetroot salad was a very pleasant light lunch for a sunny Sunday afternoon photo.
