A small and friendly Thai restaurant offering delivery and takeaway.
Bec and Adrian visited on a Wednesday evening in February 2010. It was empty as we arrived at 6pm but was filling up quickly as we left so if you plan to dine out later, booking is advised.
Our drinks order was taken as soon as we sat down from a very smiley and friendly server. Starters arrived quickly and Bec was impressed with her very generous portion of pak tempura with sweet chilli sauce (£3.75). Tempura batter was light and the veggies were fried to crispy, light perfection. Adrian had prawn spring rolls (£4.25) which he reported were acceptable but a bit pricey for the small size and portion (3).
Mains arrived in the same speedy fashion as the starters. Bec had gaeng dang (Thai red curry, £7) with the tofu option. The sauce was gorgeous although could have done with being a bit spicier. Tofu was done to perfection — crispy yet still spongey enough to absorb all the spices. There were big chunks of bamboo shoots and aubergine. Steamed rice (£1.90) was the obvious choice to soak up all the great sauce. Next time I'll ask for some chillies.
Adrian tried a chef's speciality — the lamb yang (£9.90). This was a chargrilled lamb cutlet marinated in spices — Adrian found the lamb cooked very well, tender and flavoursome. It was served with a side salad and dipping sauce.
Bec's verdict: I was very impressed and would definitely go again, using the 'need a photo' excuse.
Accessibility: toilet is down a few stairs, a sharp turn and half a dozen more stairs, down the bottom of a very narrow corridor.
The restaurant accepts Taste Card cards, offering a 50% discount off the whole bill, excluding Fridays and with a maximum of 8 diners using the card.
