Good Beer Guide pub in Leytonstone.
It's divided into two halves, each with its own entrance from the street, though there's a short passage connecting the two at the back of the bar. Unusually, the side designated as the "public" bar by the etched-glass lettering on the door has more seating than the "saloon" side — the latter has just one table plus stools in the narrow space alongside the bar, while the former is relatively spacious, with seating for around 30 on a combination of church pews and freestanding chairs flanking sturdy wooden tables. The floor is bare-boarded throughout, and walls are half-panelled beneath a display of vintage advertising and old drawings of steam engines.
Kake visited on a Tuesday early evening in September 2018. Arriving at their opening time of 4pm, I was initially one of three customers, but several others arrived while I was there, all apparently regulars. No music was playing, but there was plenty of lively conversation. Service was helpful, offering me a generous taster of the ale I asked about.
The handpumps were clipped for six real ales: ELB Foundation, Marlow Rebellion, Reunion Trial Brew 4 Isotonic "Gentleman's Sports Drink", Iron Pier Bitter (£1.95/half), Oakham Green Devil, and Oakham JHB.
Food is served, both Thai food photo of menu as of Sep 2018 and pizza, the latter supplied by a separate business called Muga.
According to a sign seen in September 2018, there's a quiz every Sunday.
Accessibility: A step at both entrances, and an uneven (cobbled) approach. No further steps to the toilet.
