Small pizza and pasta place on Old Compton Street in Soho, next door to the Stockpot. Note that despite the claims of some websites, it's not connected with the La Porchetta chain.
The upstairs is fairly small photo, but there's seating for about 25-30 downstairs too.
Kake and friends visited on a Monday evening in March 2010. There were eight of us, and we hadn't booked, but there was room in the basement — indeed, the basement was empty when we arrived around 8pm, though a few other parties were seated during our visit.
Kake's frutti di mare pizza (£7.80) photo wasn't bad; the seafood wasn't overcooked, and the sauce was flavourful and neither too thick nor too scanty. I did find a few stray shards of mussel shell, which I could have done without.
House white wine was inoffensive, and well-priced at £14.50/litre carafe (alternatively, at £2.50 for a 250ml glass).
Service was fine, coping admirably well with our slightly tipsy, slightly loud group — one suspects that they're used to this sort of thing, given the location. They had no problem bringing us tap water on request. A 10% service charge was auto-added to the bill.
Accessibility: Toilets are in the basement, down a flight of stairs.
