Bricklayers Arms, BR2 9HW

Shepherd Neame pub in Bromley.

It's divided into two halves, with the bar in the middle serving from both sides. Entry is into a bare-boarded space with a fruit machine and two raised areas offering a dartboard and some high-backed leather armchairs, respectively; a gap in the wall to the right gives access to a more lounge-like space with a carpeted floor, freestanding varnished wooden tables, and a long pleather banquette curving around one corner. Old photos of Shepherd Neame pubs, lorries, and so on hang on the walls. There's some sort of smoking area out the back.

Kake and Ewan visited on a Monday afternoon in October 2018. There was just one other customer when we arrived a little before 2pm, but several more turned up while we were there. Music was playing, not too loud.

The six handpumps (two on each side of the bar) were clipped for Spitfire Gold (£4.20 for two halves) and Master Brew.

According to the Bricklayers Arms website as of October 2018, food is served noon-3pm and 6pm-9pm Mon-Tue, noon-3pm and 6pm-10pm Wed-Sat, and noon-4pm Sun.

According to a sign seen in October 2018, there's a quiz every Thursday from 8pm.

Accessibility: A step to get in. There are only two small normal-height tables on the level; everything else is either high stools or up a couple of steps. The toilets are also up a couple of steps, though on the level with the lounge.
