Inside, there are a few sofas near the front, and high tables and chairs along one wall. The same chairs are used to provide seating at the bar, and look rather more comfortable than your average barstool. There's some rather nice tiling on one side of the room, and on our November 2007 evening visit, there were pretty little lanterns on the tables. There's some outdoor seating out the front on the street (under a small canopy in November 2007, though this wasn't in evidence in March 2011).

[[Kake]] visited again a couple of times in March 2011. There was again one real ale on both times; Spitfire (I paid £1.50/half, but a sign on the wall said there was a special offer of £2.70/pint) the first time and Greene King IPA (£1.50/half) the second time. Both were a bit cloudy and had some debris in the bottom of the glass, though they tasted fine.

There were plenty of people in at 4:30pm on a sunny Thursday, though there were still some seats free. Rock/metal was playing quite loudly. A rainy Wednesday a week later saw fewer customers, though there were still half a dozen people sitting at the bar and chatting. The relatively peaceful ambience was a strong contrast to the very studenty atmosphere at the [[Amersham Arms, SE14 6TY|Amersham Arms]] across the road.

Pub in New Cross, very near New Cross Station.

When an RGL posse visited on a Sunday evening in November 2007 as part of the East London Line pub crawl, there were a reasonable number of people in but we had no trouble getting a table. The only real ale on offer was Courage Best.

Thai food is served, possibly all day, since there were menus out at 4:30pm on a weekday in March 2011. In November 2007, Kake's seafood curry (about £6) photo was entirely lacking in heat, but had a decent flavour apart from that, and the prawns, squid, and mussels in it were good. Mixed starter platter wasn't bad; everything deep-fried, but not overly greasy as can often happen. Bob's pad krapow was tasty and hot.
