Tea shop in Mayfair.

A number of the reviews below suggest that this is a nice place to spend awhile sitting and drinking tea. Kake didn't really find this to be the case on a Wednesday afternoon visit in May 2008; partly because tea is served by the single (not excessively large) cup, so I had to pester the staff (who were absorbed in something on their laptop) to get some more, and partly because it does feel a lot more like a boutique-type shop than a teashop. I'd brought a book and had planned to sit there for a while, but didn't really feel comfortable doing so.

However, the tea is brewed very well; although they do use good quality tea, there is technique involved too. I really enjoyed my cup of Moonlight White, but despite buying a packet to take away I haven't yet been able to produce such a good cup at home.

The tea menu was just a folded piece of cardboard printed on a colour printer, which suggests that it changes often. They sell all their teas to take away, and various bits of tea-related paraphernalia too. Teas drunk in the shop start at £1.50 per cup, and if you buy a pack of the tea you try then your in-house cup is knocked off the price. They do a few cakes as well, but I didn't try them.
