It is now effectively a bar and restaurant (i.e. a gastropub), so food is served lunchtimes and evenings. They have a fairly decent menu plus around seven specials on the chalkboard.

[[Bob]] visited in May 2007 and tried one of the specials; swordfish stir-fry with egg noodles (£9.50). It was very tasty. It was a swordfish steak griddled to perfection, possibly a little underdone in places (to my taste) but that's fine for fish. The noodles were stir-fried with peppers, chillies and some very tasty squid rings (these were not tough at all) and a prawn. The apple and mango crumble at £4.75 was decent enough. The ice cream was fantastic, but the crumble was not as crumbly as it could have been.

The beer was quite drinkable. The Pure Gold and the London Pride were both £2.80.

On [[Ewan]]'s visit in April 2008, the large vegetarian platter was £8.50 and easily enough for two people [http://www.flickr.com/photos/55935853@N00/2424284150/ photo]. Quality was excellent: the sundried tomato bread was fantastic, with some particularly tasty hummous, as well as artichoke, beautifully cooked mushrooms in a sauce, a bowl of olives, and some couscous. The only negative point was the rather limp and disappointing salad leaves, but this was a minor quibble about an excellent lunchtime platter.
All on one floor with easy access and a disabled toilet.

The wine list is good and the pinot grigio was definitely drinkable. On tap were Sussex Best Bitter, London Pride, Adnams Explorer and Broadside, as well as Stiegl Goldbrau, Bitburger, Hoegaarden and Staropramen for the lagers.
Interesting views over Regent's Canal.
