Good Beer Guide pub in Peckham (or East Dulwich borders, if you prefer, as the publicans appear to do).

Stone-baked pizzas cooked to order; see website for food times. Food is served 12:30pm-2:30pm Tuesday to Friday and 6:30pm-10:30pm Monday to Friday, 12:30pm-10:30pm Saturday, and 12:30pm-9pm Sunday. The pizzas are absolutely lovely, made on the premises, with lovely big crispy crusts and tasty ingredients. Ewan can highly recommend them.

On tap are a number of ales, including Deuchars IPA as a regular. Upcoming ales are listed on a chalkboard behind the bar. The pub also has Hoegaarden and Leffe as well as other fine (and other more usual) lagers on tap.

The Gowlett has a beer garden/smoking area out back with some very long and very sturdy wooden tables. There's plenty of space inside too, often filled with families at the weekend. The staff are perfectly friendly.

There are various regular events:

  • Monday evenings - quiz night from around 8:30pm, £1 entry;
  • Tuesday evenings - pool knockout;
  • Last Wednesday of month - live jazz from around 9pm;
  • Thursdays - 7" record night;
  • Sunday afternoon - DJ Sundays.
